The following are the three sites that I subscribed to and a description of each site:
cdc.gov - The Center for Disease Control's purpose is to prevent the spread of disease and to educate the public about diseases that are commonly contracted. This website is maintained by the government and is monitored for accuracy.
fda.gov - The Food and Drug Administration is a government run agency that informed the public regarding pharmaceutical drugs, nutrition, and other information regarding food and drugs that are used regularly.
foodnetwork.com/healthy-eating/index.html - I thought this would be a fun website to receive updates on. It posts low calorie and low fat recipes daily. This would be great for high school parents and would be a great way to increase application of things learned in the classroom.
I'm glad you included the food network site. What a fun way for students and their parents to gain exposure to healthy recipes and healthy ways of eating. The website seems to be maintained very well and is very fun to look at.
ReplyDeleteAnd the FDA website - what a great site for teaching consumer health.
Thanks for the great ideas!
I love that you used the food network site. First of all I love the food network. Second of all I like that it is not just another health news website. Has things that students can try and learn about healthy eating.
ReplyDeleteI did not know the foodnetwork offered healthy recipes! How fun and useful for all the students and parents who will use your blog. I will bet you could use videos from it in the classroom as well. The FDA website is a good resource as well for nutrition.
