My name is Amanda. I am studying School Health Education at Brigham Young University. While I won't be student teaching for another year, I figured I'd name my blog so that I could use it in my future classroom. I'm the middle child of 7 kids and grew up just outside of Seattle. I love running, outdoors activities (hiking, camping, etc.), and traveling.
Blogs can be used in the classroom in many different ways. Blogs can be used to review what happens each day in class to enable those students who were absent to make up work. Homework assignments can be posted on a blog if the students need to watch a video. Students can respond to questions about their reading on a blog. This is also a great resource to help students remember important assignments.
I'm really excited for this class!
Amanda, thanks for bringing up the point that blogs can be used to help students review important assignments. Since our students are going to be online each night anyway (most likely), we can help them get into the habit of checking the class blog when they check their facebook and email. It's also a great way for parents to see upcoming assignments.
ReplyDeleteI totally said the same thing about posting assignments and lessons for the day on the blog. It could not only help students stay on track in the classroom but also help parents know what is going on and keep their child on track too.
ReplyDeleteYes! I think that using the blog almost as a class calendar is a great idea! I think that it will really help with the "I didn't know it was due today!" excuse.
ReplyDeleteI like the bright colors in your blog! Students will be able to access their assignments easily and excitedly here! Parents will also enjoy your health blog. That is a great idea to start a blog for class now then you'll be prepared! Good job. :)
